Linebacker Eron Carter, linebacker Tre Hubbard and holder Wright Bynum are no longer with the Virginia Tech football team, according to the Roanoke Times' Andy Bitter.

Carter, a redshirt-freshman, signed with Virginia Tech in the Class of 2016 as an inside linebacker. The Florida-native was a 3-star recruit coming out of high school, but figured to be fighting for a reserve role at linebacker with Rayshard Ashby, Dylan Rivers and Jaylen Griffin enrolling over the summer at linebacker. Rico Kearney enrolled for the spring semester and is currently injured.

Hubbard, a sophomore, walked-on to Virginia Tech last season, primarily playing special teams. Hubbard appeared in just three games last season at linebacker, and also would've been fighting for a reserve position this fall.

Bynum redshirted for Virginia Tech in 2015 and served as the team's place kick holder last season. Bynum was also a walk-on.
