It can't be understated what great news this is for the Virginia Tech basketball team. A program that won 20 games, finished 7th in the 15-team ACC, and advanced to the second round of the NIT in 2015-16 without those two players will now have their services for the 2016-17 season (assuming they remain healthy between now and the start of the season).

Ahmed Hill
Ty Outlaw, a 6-6, 215-pound guard/forward who last played at Lee College in Baytown, Texas in 2014-15, averaged 21.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game and was 12th in NJCAA in scoring. He shot 50% from the field, 75% from the free throw line, and hit 43.5% of his three-pointers. He is expected to bring a significant boost to the Hokies' outside shooting. Ahmed Hill, a 6-5, 195-pound guard played for the Hokies in 33 games as a freshman in 2014-15, starting 30. He averaged 8.7 points and 3.7 rebounds per game, but was forced to sit out the 2015-16 season after suffering an offseason knee injury. HIll is often described as a "Buzz Williams guy" with a high level of effort and defensive tenacity.

Ty Outlaw and Ahmed Hill Bolster Hokies' Roster

The Hokies' roster next year now projects as:

Zach LeDay (r-Sr.)
Seth Allen (r-Sr.)
Devin Wilson (Sr.) (on football scholarship)
Johnny Hamilton (Sr.)
Ty Outlaw (r-Jr.)
Seth LeDay (Jr.)*
Justin Bibbs (Jr.)
Ahmed Hill (r-So.)
Chris Clarke (So.)
Justin Robinson (So.)
Kerry Blackshear (So.)
Khadim Sy (Fr.)
Tyrie Jackson (Fr.)
* ineligible to play after transferring; will sit out the season

The return of Hill and Outlaw will help the Hokies compensate for the loss at the wing position of Jalen Hudson, who transferred out to Florida after the end of the season.
