Cam Wade
Wide receiver, Class of 2027
Leesburg, Va.
5-11, 165
Virginia Tech nabbed a commitment on Sunday from Cam Wade, a wide receiver who will play at Loudoun Sports Academy this fall. On3's Pete Nakos first reported the news.
The 5-foot-11, 165-pound wideout is the No. 8 player in Virginia, according to the 247Sports composite rankings, giving the Hokies three commitments in the top 11 from the commonwealth for 2027.
Wade, who fits in as a slot receiver, played in Kentucky during his junior year, catching 53 passes for 821 yards and 14 touchdowns last season for Paducah Tilghman High. He also had two pick-sixes on defense and had two punt returns for scores. He announced his transfer to Loudoun Sports Academy in April.
In mid-April, it was reported that Ward was expected to commit on July 1 among a group of teams that included Maryland, Florida State, Florida, Alabama and Auburn. He officially visited Virginia Tech over this weekend.
He's a four-star prospect who is ranked 353rd nationally and is the 46th-ranked wide receiver in the nation.
Wade is the 20th commitment in the Hokies' 2027 class, which now ranks ninth nationally.
He's the third receiver in the class, joining a pair of bigger wideouts, Demarcus Brown and Anthony Roberts.
