Saunders is an in-state recruit who plays for Woodberry Forest. The Hokies struggled to sign players from that school for years, but they’ve now been successful there for three straight classes as he joins former teammates Sheldon Robinson (2025) and Buddy Wegdam (2026). Saunders represents a significant in-state recruiting victory for Franklin and offensive line coach Matt Moore.
Ranked among Virginia’s top prospects in the 2027 cycle, Saunders is listed with scholarship offers from UVa, South Carolina, Florida, Florida State, Maryland, NC State, Ohio State, Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse, Tennessee and others.

• 247Sports: Four-star, No. 32 OT, No. 6 player in Va.
• ESPN: Four-star, No. 189 player overall, No. 19 OT, No. 3 player in Va.
• Rivals: Three-star, No. 60 OT, No. 13 player in Va.
Saunders is the 22nd commitment of the 2027 recruitment class and the fourth offensive lineman.
