Virginia Tech men's basketball's ACC opponents for the 2026-27 season were announced on Thursday morning by the ACC.
With the league's 18-game schedule, every school has a primary partner it plays twice a year, like Duke and North Carolina. It'll then have a variable partner it plays twice a season. That team will rotate each year. Of the other 15 programs, it'll play 14 of them once a year, either home or away.
There's also one squad it won't see each regular season, which also rotates. Last season, Tech did not play Pitt. In 2026-27, that team is Duke. It'll mark the first time the Hokies and Blue Devils won't play since Tech joined the ACC in 2004.
Here's how the rest of the slate shakes out for the Hokies and Mike Young:
- Home/away: Virginia, Boston College
- Home: Clemson, Louisville, Miami, North Carolina, NC State, SMU, Syracuse
- Away: Cal, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Pitt, Stanford, Wake Forest
The Eagles replace the Demon Deacons as Tech's variable partner, while the Panthers swap in with the Blue Devils. All of the other opponents are flipped from last season.
The Hokies' road schedule next season will be almost entirely flights, ranging from a West Coast swing to Boston, Tallahassee, Pittsburgh, Atlanta and South Bend. Only Charlottesville and Winston-Salem are drives within 300 miles. Interestingly, it's also just the third time since Tech joined the Big East in men's hoops in 2000 that it won't play at Miami, which last occurred in 2010.
On the flip side, of the Hokies' nine home games, six are against teams that finished in the top seven of last year's ACC standings. Boston College, SMU and Syracuse are the outliers.
Virginia Tech already has six non-conference games on the docket this year, too: Coppin State, Old Dominion, Maryland Eastern Shore, Radford, VMI and Richmond.
