Virginia Tech and James Franklin picked up a commitment from four-star running back Javian Jones-Priest on Tuesday, he announced live on his Instagram.

The Arlington, Texas, product had official visits scheduled to Oklahoma State, SMU, TCU and Oregon in June, and took a trip to Northwestern in early May, but landed on the Hokies. He officially visited Blacksburg in late April and the Tech coaching staff rolled out the red carpet for him.

The Horned Frogs — for whom his father, Rafael Priest, played cornerback from 2005-09 — appeared to be the Hokies' biggest competition. Jones-Priest also held Power Four offers from Arizona, Baylor, Cal, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Missouri, Purdue, Texas Tech, UCF, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin.

On3 lists him as a four-star talent and the No. 254 overall prospect in the 2027 class, including the No. 18 running back and the No. 34 player in Texas. He's a three-star recruit by 247Sports and ESPN, which have him between 27 and 37 at his position and 50 and 70 in the Lone Star State.

On the football field, Jones-Priest accounted for 1,154 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on 144 carries as a junior (8.0 ypc). He also runs track and posted a 10.41 time in the 100 meters.

He's the 13th commitment in the Hokies' 2027 class and the third running back, joining Kelvin Morrison (Hermitage, Pa.) and Stanley Smart (Savannah, Ga.). According to the 247Sports composite rankings, he's also the third-best recruit in the group behind quarterback Peter Bourque and defensive lineman Joseph Buchanan.
