Virginia Tech women's basketball and head coach Megan Duffy announced the hiring of Ke'Sha Blanton as an assistant coach on Monday.
Blanton, who worked with Duffy for at Miami (OH) from 2017-19, ventures to Blacksburg from New Orleans, where she served as Tulane's assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.
She fills an opening vacated by Darren Guensch. He was an assistant on last year's Hokies staff who left for Virginia in the offseason, reuniting with Aaron Roussell, with whom he worked at Richmond.
"We are thrilled to welcome Ke'Sha Blanton to Blacksburg," Duffy said in Tech's release. "She is an incredibly hard worker with a passion to impact student-athletes both on and off the court. She will immediately expand our recruiting footprint and elevate our player development."
Blanton has 15 years of coaching experience at the Division I level and has mentored 30 all-conference selections. Her previous stops include Tulane, Eastern Michigan, Oakland, Miami (OH), Detroit Mercy and Florida State. She also spent a season as head coach at the Air Force Prep Academy in 2024-25 and posted a 21-0 record.
A native of Toledo, Ohio, she holds an undergraduate degree in communications from Toledo and a master's in sports administration from Florida State, where she began her coaching career as a graduate assistant from 2010-12 under the legendary Sue Semrau.
Her next stop was Detroit Mercy. She spent five seasons there and served as the program's defensive coordinator before joining Duffy in Oxford. The RedHawks were 44-20 with two trips to the WNIT in the two years Duffy and Blanton were together.
While Duffy moved on to Marquette, Blanton landed at Oakland, where she served as the associate head coach from 2019-21 and the acting head coach on behalf of Jeff Tungate in 2021-22, which saw the Golden Grizzlies finish with an 11-9 Horizon League record.
In two years at Eastern Michigan, she began as an assistant coach before becoming the interim head coach after the firing of Fred Castro in December 2023.
She moved out west for the head role at the Air Force Prep Academy before joining Ashley Langford's staff at Tulane. After one season in Louisiana, Blanton reunited with Duffy at Virginia Tech.
Blanton joins a Hokies' staff that consists of associate head coach Itoro Coleman and assistant coaches Jen Hoover, Sharnee Zoll and Jerod McCullen.
