Virginia Tech and Mike Young received a commitment from Oklahoma State guard Jaylen Curry on Wednesday afternoon.

Curry averaged 10.1 points, 3.5 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game this season for the Cowboys (20-15, 6-12 Big 12). He played in 33 games with seven starts and shot 41.8 percent from the field (114-for-273) and 31.6 percent from 3-point range (25-for-79).

He had 19 double-digit performances throughout his junior year, including seven in a row at the end of the season. Curry was on and off outside of that, though. He had a 30-point, 10-assist double-double on Nov. 22 vs. Nicholls (8-for-11 FG, 12-for-12 FT), but also just two points against Kansas State and Utah.

Bart Torvik gave Curry a 2.9 box plus-minus rating with Oklahoma State, which included a 1.4 mark on both the offensive and defensive ends. According to Ken Pomeroy, he had the sixth-highest steal percentage in Big 12 play at 3.2 percent, which complemented an assist rate of 23.5 percent (No. 15).

The Charlotte, N.C., native began his career at UMass under Frank Martin. He posted 7.4 points per game as a true freshman, when he was an all-league rookie team selection, and increased that average to 13.3 as a sophomore. He ranked 22nd in Division I in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.7 and posted a career-high 12 assists vs. New Hampshire.

Curry was an all-conference and all-district performer at Julius L. Chambers High School in the Queen City before transferring to Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for his senior year. He spent his sophomore season at Combine Academy, where MJ Collins and Patrick Wessler played the year prior.

A three-star prospect, Curry was the No. 214 player in the 2023 recruiting class, per the 247Sports composite rankings. He held Power Conference offers from Alabama, Florida State, Ole Miss, Pitt, Texas A&M, Xavier and the Hokies. He also earned a gold medal with Team USA at the 2021 FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Mexico.

Curry is the fifth commit of the offseason for the Hokies, joining Kuol Atak, Miles Heide, Isaiah Elohim and Ned Hull.
