A three-star prospect in the 2027 class, Smart chose the Hokies over Kansas State and USF. It's another win for new Tech running backs coach Norval McKenzie, this one coming over Elijah Brooks, the former position coach in Blacksburg who is now with the Bulls. When McKenzie was at Georgia Tech, he handed Smart his first Power Four offer as a high school sophomore.
Unranked by ESPN, Smart is listed as the No. 89 running back in the class by 247Sports and No. 99 by Rivals. His other P4 offers included Auburn, Cincinnati, Duke, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Syracuse, Texas Tech, UCF, Wake Forest and West Virginia.
At Benedictine Military School, he rushed for 1,004 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior (6.9 ypc), while hauling in 12 passes for 171 yards and two scores.
Stanley is the Hokies' second running back pickup in the last week, joining Kelvin Morrison of Hermitage, Pa, and the eighth commit in the class.
