Virginia Tech and Mike Young received their first transfer portal commitment of the offseason in the form of Oklahoma's Kuol Atak on Sunday. His agency informed Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, who first reported the news.
After redshirting as a true freshman in 2024-25, Atak — pronounced koo-ALL uh-TOK — averaged 7.0 points and 1.3 rebounds per game this season with the Sooners (21-16, 7-11 SEC).
He only averaged 12.4 minutes per game (and missed 13 games, mostly due to an ankle injury in February and March). However, he was an effective role player, particularly as a 3-point shooter. He was 43-for-104 (41.3%) from behind the arc and had six games with four-plus makes. The list:

• Dec. 6 vs. Arizona State: 12 pts, 4-for-8 3FG
• Dec. 29 vs. Mississippi Valley State: 24 pts, 6-for-10 3FG
• Jan. 3 vs. Ole Miss: 14 pts, 4-for-9 3FG
• Feb. 14 vs. Georgia: 18 pts, 6-for-7 3FG
• April 1 vs. Colorado: 16 pts, 4-for-11 3FG
• Total: 102 pts (17.0 avg), 28-for-53 (52.8%)
Atak had an offensive rating of 125.8 this season, per Ken Pomeroy. According to Bart Torvik, he had a box plus-minus rating of 5.5 — 6.9 on the offensive side, minus-1.4 on the defensive side.
The Haltom City, Texas, native was a four-star prospect by On3 out of high school and was ranked No. 87. He averaged 22.3 points and 9.8 rebounds per game as a senior.
