Hokies guard Jaden Schutt will enter the transfer portal when it opens on April 7. Jeff Goodman first reported the news on Friday for The Field Of 68. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.

Schutt (6-5, 200) transferred to Virginia Tech from Duke in 2024, where he spent his first two seasons. He played in 14 games as a true freshman before redshirting due to injury in 2023-24.

In two years with the Hokies, the Yorkville, Ill., native played in 64 games and averaged 7.7 points per game. Primarily a 3-point shooter, he was 122-for-329 (37.1%) from long range in Blacksburg.

He started 26 games for Tech last season and shot 35.6 percent (57-for-160) from the outside. After three games with four-plus triples before New Year's Eve, he tapered off and only had one the rest of the way — a 4-for-8 clip in the 75-74 win at Virginia.

As a redshirt junior this year, Schutt was 38.5 percent (65-for-169) from three and had five games with four-plus makes, including a 6-for-12 outing vs. George Mason. However, he was quiet as the season drew to an end. He was scoreless in four of the final seven games while shooting 0-for-14 from deep. In the other three games, he was 8-for-19 (42.1%).

His departure leaves the Hokies with seven current scholarship players for the 2026-27 season. He's the fourth portal entry of the offseason, joining Izaiah Pasha, Neoklis Avdalas and Christian Gurdak.
