Virginia Tech and Megan Duffy added a commitment from Tennessee forward Alyssa Latham on Wednesday evening, she announced on her Instagram.

Latham committed to the Hokies after a recent visit to Blacksburg. She also visited Ole Miss.
The Glenwood, Ill., native played in 61 games over the last two seasons with the Lady Vols. She started 21 of those games and averaged 4.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. She was part of two NCAA Tournament teams under Kim Caldwell, including a group that reached the Sweet Sixteen in 2025.
On this year's Tennessee team (16-14, 8-8 SEC) that lost its final eight contests, Latham missed three games due to injury — two in November, one in January. Outside of that, she averaged 4.7 points and 3.4 rebounds.
She had three outings with eight-plus boards — against Florida, UConn and LSU — and five double-figure scoring performances, highlighted by a season-high 15 points on 7-for-10 shooting vs. Missouri.
As a sophomore, she played in 34 games for the Lady Vols (24-10, 8-8) with five starts. She produced on the glass, with seven games of seven-plus rebounds, but averaged just 3.9 points per game while shooting 47.8 percent. She was the first transfer portal commitment of the Kim Caldwell era after she was hired.
"She's one of the most athletic people on the floor," Caldwell said of Latham in February 2025. "And she can find buckets that other people can't. She can go get offensive rebounds. She can get steals. She's a really good and smart slasher cutting. So, she just needs to continue to do what she's doing."
Blacksburg will be the third stop for Latham, who began her career at Syracuse in 2023-24. She thrived there as a rookie, earning ACC All-Freshman Team honors after averaging 8.6 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Notre Dame's Hannah Hidalgo, Virginia's Kymora Johnson, NC State's Zoe Brooks and Duke's Oluchi Okananwa were also on that team.
She started 26 games and was the league's rookie of the week once after a 23-point, 12-rebound performance against Alabama. Latham was an integral piece that helped the Orange (24-8, 13-5) to a second-place finish in the conference and a trip to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Across 18 ACC contests, she averaged 7.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.

• 2023-24 (Cuse): 32 games, 26 starts; 8.6 ppg, 7.0 rpg; 46.0% FG (116-for-252), 28.6% 3FG (6-for-21)
• 2024-25 (Vols): 34 games, 5 starts; 3.9 ppg, 3.7 rpg; 47.8% FG (54-for-113), 31.3% 3FG (10-for-32)
• 2025-26 (Vols): 27 games, 16 starts; 4.7 ppg, 3.4 rpg; 53.9% FG (48-for-89), 21.1% 3FG (4-for-19)
She's a similar player to Kilah Freelon, who graduated. Freelon was slightly shorter at 6-foot-1, but was an athletic forward who started 32 games for the Hokies this year and averaged 9.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

• Block Percentage: Latham 4.5% (Fr.); Freelon 4.8%
It could be difficult for Latham to match Freelon's defensive rebounding rate of 21.1 percent this year. Then again, Freelon's best mark through her first three seasons was 15.3 before a giant jump at Tech. Latham was at 16.2 as a sophomore and 15.6 as a freshman but dropped to 11.5 as a junior. However, her offensive rebounding rate of 11.0 as a sophomore was right around Freelon's of 13.0.
At Homewood-Flossmoor High School, she averaged 19 points and 12 rebounds as a senior. The three-time all-state performer was the MaxPreps Illinois Player of the Year as a junior. ESPN ranked Latham as the No. 72 recruit in the 2023 class, just below Carys Baker (No. 58), Mackenzie Nelson (No. 65) and Samyha Suffren (No. 69).
