Virginia Tech women's basketball earned a No. 9 seed in the 2026 NCAA Tournament and will head to Austin, Texas, for the first and second rounds.
After missing the Big Dance last season, the Hokies (23-9, 12-6 ACC) are back in the event and will face No. 8 seed Oregon in the first round of the event on Friday. It'll be a 1:30 p.m. ET (12:30 p.m. CT) tip on ESPN2 and will be the third game of the first round.
They are in the same subregional as No. 1 seed Texas, which will host games in the Moody Center (10,763) in the Lone Star State. Missouri State and Stephen F. Austin are the No. 16 seeds.
It's Tech's 14th NCAA Tournament appearance and the fifth in the last six years. It's the school's first time as a No. 9 seed.
The Hokies have met the Ducks once: Nov. 27, 1999, in Eugene in the Pepsi Shootout, which they lost 73-53. Oregon is No. 24 in the NET rankings and is 22-12 (8-10 Big Ten) on the season.
This is the fourth time Megan Duffy has led her team to the NCAA Tournament as a head coach, along with her 2021, 2023 and 2024 squads at Marquette. Her 2021 group was a No. 10 seed and lost to the No. 7 seed Hokies in the first round.
