Virginia Tech men's basketball forward Amani Hansberry earned All-ACC honorable mention honors, the conference announced Monday.
The junior, who transferred to the Hokies from West Virginia in the offseason, has averaged 14.3 points and 7.4 rebounds across 30 games this year. He's shot 49.2 percent from the field (159-for-323) and has made 34 3-pointers while adding 72 assists, 44 steals and 21 blocks.
The Silver Spring, Md., native scored in double figures all in 26 of his 30 appearances, including 15 of the 18 ACC games. He began league play with three straight double-doubles against Virginia (17 points, 15 rebounds), Wake Forest (19 points, 10 rebounds) and Stanford (11 points, 11 rebounds).
Hansberry's season-high in points came in an 86-83 overtime victory at South Carolina on Dec. 2, in which he posted 22 points on 10-for-16 shooting and hauled in 14 boards.
He was the lone Tech player represented in this year's awards. Point guard Ben Hammond received one vote for the most improved player.
It was Duke-heavy voting, with true freshman Cameron Boozer earning player of the year and rookie of the year, forward Maliq Brown named defensive player of the year and sixth man of the year, and Jon Scheyer picking up coach of the year honors â the first by a Blue Devils head coach since Mike Krzyzewski in 2000.
The lone non-Duke individual award went to Wake Forest's Juke Harris for the ACC's Most Improved Player. After averaging 6.7 points per game last year, he's up to 21.7 this season. The Hokies face him and the Demon Deacons on Tuesday in the ACC Tournament at 7 p.m. ET.
Will Hansberry play? He suffered what head coach Mike Young described as a leg injury in the second half of Saturday's loss at Virginia and was removed with 6:23 remaining and did not return. On Monday in Charlotte, Young said Hansberry is "getting better and better" and is day-to-day.
