Virginia Tech men's basketball is the No. 12 seed in the 2026 ACC Tournament, which begins on Tuesday at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C.

The Hokies finished the regular season with a 19-12 (8-10 ACC) record and won just four of their last 10 games, which included dropping close calls against ranked foes in Miami (67-66), North Carolina (89-82) and Virginia (76-72).
Two of the teams they beat await in the first and second rounds: Wake Forest and Clemson.
The Demon Deacons are the No. 13 seed and will face Tech in the third game on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. ET on the ACC Network. They capped off the regular season with an 80-73 victory over Cal to improve to 16-15 (7-11).
Wake Forest and Virginia Tech split in the regular season. The Deacs won 81-78 in Winston-Salem on Jan. 3 while the Hokies throttled them 82-63 in Blacksburg on Feb. 21.
The winner gets the No. 5 seed Tigers, who scraped past Georgia Tech 79-76 on the final day of the regular season. They are 22-9 (12-6), though they dropped five of their last seven contests — including to both the Deacs and Hokies — after starting 20-4 (10-1).
Wake beat Clemson 85-77 at home while Tech won 76-66 in Littlejohn Coliseum the week prior. The Tigers bounced back from that four-game skid with a home win over Louisville, though.
Believe it or not, the Hokies are still in the NCAA Tournament conversation, despite losing 76-72 at No. 13 Virginia on Saturday. They're still squarely on the bubble, in part because the other teams around them — Indiana, New Mexico, Cincinnati and Cal — also lost. If they could beat the Demon Deacons, Wednesday night's game against the Tigers would be another Quadrant 1 opportunity.
