Virginia Tech picked up a transfer portal commitment from West Virginia linebacker Curtis Jones Jr. on Saturday night. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Jones played the bandit role in the West Virginia defense this past season, which is a hybrid outside linebacker/edge role. He could potentially play on the edge in the Virginia Tech defense or slide inside to the will position. He had 23 tackles, three tackles for loss and a sack in a rotational role in 2025.
One of the most unique players in the country, Jones also lined up in the offensive backfield at times, finishing the season with 11 carries for 24 yards and a reception for three yards.
Originally from Huntington, West Virginia, he was one of the top-five players in the state coming out of high school.
