Virginia Tech and head coach James Franklin received a transfer portal commitment from Penn State tight end Luke Reynolds on Sunday. ESPN's Pete Thamel first reported the news.
The Westford, Mass., native caught 35 passes for 368 yards and one touchdown in two seasons at Penn State. As a sophomore in 2025, he hauled in 26 receptions for 257 yards. His best performance of the year was a four-catch, 73-yard outing on Sept. 13 vs. Villanova. He also capped off the season with two catches for 28 yards against Clemson in the Pinstripe Bowl.
Reynolds starred at Cheshire Academy in Connecticut, where he racked up 48 receptions for 754 yards and nine touchdowns as a senior. As a prospect, 247Sports rated him as a five-star â the No. 29 overall prospect, the top tight end in the country and the best player in Connecticut â while ESPN, On3 and Rivals all gave him four-star status.
Ty Howle was his primary recruiter to State College, and with Howle becoming the offensive coordinator and tight ends coach in Blacksburg under Franklin, the move is a natural one for Reynolds.
