Virginia Tech got another defensive line commitment on Sunday afternoon, this time from Penn State defensive end Mylachi Williams. On3 first reported the news.
He's the Hokies' fourth Sunday pledge, joining fellow Nittany Lions Michael Troutman III (offensive lineman) and Cortez Harris (defensive end) and Ohio State defensive tackle Eric Mensah.
Williams redshirted in 2024 and played 35 snaps as a redshirt freshman in 2025, recording three pressures and one tackle, according to PFF. He's a Philadelphia native and a product of Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast Catholic.
Coming out of high school, Williams was a four-star prospect by On3 and Rivals and a unanimous top-15 talent in Pennsylvania. Here's how the recruiting services viewed him in the 2024 class:
• On3: Four-star, No. 111 nationally, No. 16 edge, No. 3 in Pa.
• Rivals: Four-star, No. 18 edge, No. 9 in Pa.
• 247Sports: Three-star, No. 40 edge, No. 12 in Pa.
• ESPN: Three-star, No. 53 edge, No. 15 in Pa.
In his original recruitment, he held Power 4 offers from Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC and West Virginia.
He's the Hokies' 19th portal pickup of the offseason and the fifth defensive end, joining Cortez, Daniel Jennings (Penn State), Javion Hilson (Missouri) and Kamauryn Morgan (Baylor).
