Virginia Tech and James Franklin received a commitment from Baylor edge Kamauryn Morgan on Thursday afternoon, he confirmed on his social media.
The Dallas native played in 10 games as a true freshman with the Bears and tallied six tackles and one quarterback hurry on 125 snaps. He graded out with a 60.0 overall defensive grade, per PFF, with a 61.9 mark against the run, a 67.3 tackling grade and a 58.9 pass-rushing grade.
Of his 125 snaps, 78 of them came at outside linebacker — 39 at each the left and right spots. The other 47 came at defensive end. Tech Sideline's understanding is that he'll be a defensive end in Blacksburg for new D-line coach Sean Spencer.
Morgan was a unanimous four-star recruit out of South Oak Cliff High School. ESPN ranked him as the No. 272 player in the 2025 class. Here's a breakdown of where the services viewed him:

Spencer pursued Morgan while he was Texas A&M's defensive line coach. Arizona State, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Oregon, SMU, TCU, Tennessee, Texas Tech, USC and Washington were among his other Power 4 offers.
This time around, he visited Blacksburg when the transfer portal opened — he was shown on TV sitting in the front row with James Franklin at Wednesday's men's basketball game — and committed soon after. He's the Hokies' 12th portal pledge.
