Virginia Tech and James Franklin added more size up front in Oklahoma offensive tackle Logan Howland on Thursday, he announced on his Instagram.
The Westfield, N.J., native spent three seasons in Norman and played 727 snaps, per PFF. He redshirted as a true freshman in 2023 before appearing in all 13 contests in 2024 with six starts at left tackle. In 2025, he was sidelined by a spring shoulder injury before bouncing back and competing for a starting spot. He only played in the first five games before suffering another injury.
A breakdown of Howland's offensive PFF grades over the last two years:
• 2024: 502 snaps, 67.9 overall offensive grade, 62.9 run blocking, 70.2 pass blocking
• 2025: 221 snaps, 60.0 overall offensive grade, 60.2 run blocking, 65.4 pass blocking
As a redshirt freshman, 500 of his snaps came at left tackle. He split time between both tackle spots last season — 145 at left, 73 at right.
He's a product of the Hun School of Princeton. Rivals gave him a four-star ranking out of high school while 247Sports, ESPN and On3 had him as a three-star talent. Three of the four listed him as a top-10 player in New Jersey and as high as No. 6.
His impressive offer list included a variety of Power 4 schools: Boston College, Duke, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Virginia.
He's the Hokies' second offseason addition to the offensive line via the transfer portal, joining Michigan State's Justin Bell. He's also their 10th commitment.
