Virginia Tech has flipped another prospect from Penn State on Tuesday. This time it was Washington, D.C., defensive end Tyson Harley, who had been a Nittany Lion verbal since August 5.

The Hokies were originally a finalist for Harley along with Maryland, Michigan State, Rutgers and Penn State, and he officially visited Blacksburg back on June 20. Tech got the last visit, but couldn’t close the deal, and he committed to James Franklin.
Auburn, Boston College, Duke, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, LSU, Michigan, South Carolina, Syracuse, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Virginia and West Virginia were among his other offers.
With Franklin now at Virginia Tech, Harley set up a visit to Blacksburg this weekend and made the decision to make the move with his coach. Here are his recruiting rankings:
- Rivals: Four-star, No. 152 player overall, No. 19 edge, No. 2 player in D.C.
- ESPN: Three-star, No. 28 edge, No. 3 player in D.C.
- 247Sports: Three-star, No. 49 edge, No. 2 player in D.C.
Harley has long arms, is quick off the ball and changes directions well. He’s thin right now and will likely require a redshirt year to add mass, but he’s a player with a high ceiling.
