Hokies defensive tackle Kemari Copeland was named a Third Team All-ACC performer on Tuesday, the conference announced.

His teammate on the defensive line, fellow defensive tackle Kody Huisman, also earned honorable mention honors from the league's 82-member voting panel.

It's the third straight year Virginia Tech had two defensive linemen on the All-ACC teams, following up first-team selections Antwaun Powell-Ryland and Aeneas Peebles in 2024 and Powell-Ryland (second team) and Norell Pollard (honorable mention) in 2023.

Copeland returned from a triceps injury suffered last season and led the Hokies with 4.5 sacks while also racking up 48 tackles and 7.5 TFLs. He had an interception vs. Wofford in September, too.

Three of his sacks came on Friday, Oct. 24, vs. Cal, where the redshirt junior became the first Tech defensive tackle with three in a single game since his position coach, J.C. Price, had four vs. Miami in 1995. He was named the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week as a result.

The Virginia Beach native moved to Blacksburg after spending his sophomore season at Iowa Western Community College at the JUCO level, where he posted 38 tackles, nine sacks and 4.5 TFLs. The Kellam High School product spent his freshman year at Army.

As for Huisman, he transferred to Virginia Tech in the offseason after spending the last four seasons at North Dakota State, where he was part of two national championship teams.

The redshirt senior posted 38 tackles and 1.5 TFLs this season to go with one breakup, one pass deflection and one quarterback hurry. He had back-to-back five-tackle games for the Hokies at Florida State and vs. Miami.

A native of Pella, Iowa, he was an All-MVFC honorable mention pick in 2024 at NDSU and compiled 73 tackles, 12.5 TFLs and 3.5 sacks over his time with the Bison.

According to Pro Football Focus, Huisman and Copeland were two of the ACC's top three highest-grading interior defensive linemen. Huisman was first with an 81.9 mark while Copeland was second at 80.2. In the middle was Louisville's Rene Konga, a second-team all-league nominee with an 80.4 grade.

Among FBS defensive linemen with at least 20 percent of total snaps played, Huisman and Copeland's grades ranked 12th and 23rd nationally, respectively.

The American Bowl also announced on Tuesday that Huisman officially accepted his invitation to participate in the all-star game on Jan. 22, 2026.
