Wide Receiver, Class of 2026
Trinity Episcopal, Richmond, Va.

Virginia Tech has picked up another former Penn State commit. This time, it was Trinity Episcopal (Richmond, Va.) wide receiver Davion Brown, who chose the Hokies after taking late visits to Maryland and Blacksburg.

The only official visit Brown took was to Penn State, and he committed to the Nittany Lions in May. He opened up his recruiting after James Franklin was hired, and eventually settled on Virginia Tech.

Auburn, Boston College, Duke, Florida State, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas State, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, NC State, North Carolina, Pitt, Rutgers, SMU, South Carolina, Tennessee, USC, Virginia and West Virginia made up his illustrious list of Power 4 offers.

Brown is ranked as a top-10 player in the Commonwealth of Virginia by two of the three recruiting services.

  • ESPN: Four-star, No. 109 player nationally, No. 13 WR, No. 4 in Virginia
  • 247Sports: Three-star, No. 55 WR, No. 10 player in Virginia
  • Rivals: Three-star, No. 79 WR, No. 17 player in Virginia

ESPN is quite a bit higher on him than the other recruiting services. Brown caught 42 passes for 946 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior during the 2024 season. His 3,090 career receiving yards ranks No. 2 all-time in the Richmond area, behind only fellow 2026 recruit and James Madison commit Ben Whitver (3,501).

Blessed with a well-built, stock frame, Brown plays on the outside as well as in the slot for Trinity Episcopal. He most likely projects as an outside receiver for the Hokies.
