Virginia Tech picked up a commitment from Green Run (Virginia Beach, Va.) offensive tackle Thomas Wilder on Monday.

After taking official visits to Blacksburg, Penn State and Maryland, he eventually settled on the Hokies over the Nittany Lions. He decommitted from Tech after Brent Pry was fired and appeared to be set to sign with Maryland. However, James Franklin’s arrival in Blacksburg swayed him back to his original choice.
The recruiting services are high on Wilder:
- ESPN: Four-star, No. 7 in Virginia, No. 26 OT, No. 222 nationally
- 247Sports: Four-star, No. 9 in Virginia, No. 29 OT
- Rivals: Three-star, No. 21 in Virginia, No. 80 OT
Wilder continues the Green Run to Virginia Tech pipeline, joining recent additions Keylen Adams, Knahlij Harrell, Zeke Chinwike, Kamren Johnson and Zaevion Cleveland.
He’s also the newest piece of what is expected to be a large offensive line recruiting class at Virginia Tech, which includes Buddy Wegdam, Tyrell Simpson, Roseby Lubintus, Marlen Bright and Maddox Cochrane.
