The ACC revealed its 2025-26 men's basketball schedules on Tuesday afternoon, and for the first time since 2010-11, Virginia Tech will open conference play against Virginia. Part I of this season's Commonwealth Clash will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 30, or Wednesday, Dec. 31, in Cassell Coliseum.
The Hokies published their non-conference slate on Aug. 1 and now their schedule for the upcoming season is finalized. Here's a look at their campaign, which begins on Monday, Nov. 3, vs. Charleston Southern:

For the first time ever, VT-UVa will open bookend the season, with Part II of the Commonwealth Clash on Saturday, March 7, in John Paul Jones Arena. The last time the Hokies' final regular-season contest was against UVa was Feb. 25, 1955. Other previous instances were 1939-40, 1922-23 and 1914-15.
It also means Virginia Tech closes the season at Virginia in football, men's basketball and women's basketball in the same academic year — a first in school history. The Cavaliers have a new head coach in Ryan Odom, who was previously at VCU.
Wake Forest is the other program the Hokies see twice — in Winston-Salem on Saturday, Jan. 3, and in Blacksburg on Saturday, Feb. 21. With the shift back to the 18-game schedule, Tech does not play Pitt this year.
Stanford and Cal visit for the first time ever in early January before the Hokies' maiden excursion to SMU. They'll play in Dallas on Tuesday, Jan. 13, or Wednesday, Jan. 14, before Tech women's basketball faces the Mustangs there on Thursday, Jan. 15.
Mike Young & Co. return to Cassell Coliseum to host Notre Dame before a road trip to Syracuse. Then it's back-to-back Saturdays against the league's top-two squads from last year — at Louisville (Jan. 24) and vs. Duke (Jan. 31) — with a game vs. Georgia Tech sandwiched in between.
Virginia Tech is on the road for three of its next four contests: at NC State, Clemson and Miami. A home game vs. Florida State (Saturday, Feb. 14) is third in that sequence. Three of those teams have new head coaches, too.
After facing the Demon Deacons for a second time, the Hokies travel to North Carolina on Saturday, Feb. 28. Boston College (home) and Virginia (away) are their final two games before the ACC Tournament, which runs from Tuesday, March 10, through Saturday, March 14, at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C.
Tech's two open dates are Wednesday, Feb. 4, and Wednesday, Feb. 25.
Four of the Hokies' nine home contests are over winter break while the students are away: Virginia, Stanford, Cal and Notre Dame. The five games in Cassell Coliseum during the spring semester: Georgia Tech, Duke, Florida State, Wake Forest and Boston College.
