The bracket for the 2025 Battle 4 Atlantis was announced on Thursday morning, and Virginia Tech will face Colorado State in the first round of the event.
The eight-team tournament is held from Nov. 26-28 in Paradise Island, The Bahamas. Each squad will play three games, and the Hokies open play with the Rams on Nov. 26 at 5 p.m. ET on ESPNU.

Tech will face Wichita State or Saint Mary's in its second game on Nov. 27, and the four teams in the top half of the bracket — Western Kentucky, Vanderbilt, VCU and USF — are potential opponents in the third game on Nov. 28.
As for Colorado State, the program recently burst on the scene under head coach Niko Medved, who was 143-85 (.672) in seven years in Fort Collins. A former Southern Conference colleague of Mike Young's from his four seasons as Furman's head coach (2013-17), he led the Rams to unprecedented heights with three NCAA Tournament appearances and a Mountain West Tournament title in the last four years. (They also had one of the best players in the nation this year in Nique Clifford.) Prior to his arrival, CSU had made just three trips to the Big Dance in the last 20 years.
Medved accepted the Minnesota job in the offseason, though, and Ali Farokhmanesh, his longtime assistant, was promoted. If that name sounds familiar, check out this clip from his playing days at Northern Iowa.
This is Farokhmanesh's first head-coaching gig, and one of his options at point guard is a familiar name for Hokies fans: Brandon Rechsteiner. The Acworth, Ga., native spent two seasons in Blacksburg and played in 58 games for Tech while starting 17. He averaged seven points per game as a sophomore.It'll be the second meeting between the Hokies and Rams. Colorado State won the inaugural matchup 88-52 on Dec. 23, 2012, in Las Vegas. Tech's never faced Saint Mary's but has played Wichita State twice — most recently in the 2011 NIT. And should the Hokies and VCU clash in the third round, it would mark the 22nd encounter between the in-state foes (and the first since 2013).
On paper, Battle 4 Atlantis could be the toughest portion of Tech's non-conference schedule. There are four top-50 teams from last year — Colorado State, Saint Mary's, Vanderbilt and VCU — who made the NCAA Tournament, and they're balanced evenly across the bracket. For comparison, the Hokies also have top-100 squads in Providence, Saint Joseph's, South Carolina and George Mason on their slate, none of whom were above 65 in the metrics.
