About JH Bards

When Jayson Hudson and Jason Hardy, both natives of Blacksburg, Va., moved home to the New River Valley region of Virginia in 2017, they started a local whiskey club called the Bourbon and Rye Drinking Society, or BARDS. Over the next several months, they had many whiskey-infused conversations about how great it would be to start their own distillery and be able to bring their vision of good whiskey to the area.

From these conversations, J.H. BARDS Spirit Co. was born.

As an Appalachian distillery located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, they believe that a local focus (90% of their ingredients are sourced in Southwest Virginia) and commitment to their mountain heritage shine through in their products.

The mission of JH Bards is three-fold:

  • To create exceptional spirits from locally produced and sourced ingredients
  • To provide education on the history and current trends in the distilled spirit business
  • To impart in others an appreciation for both the culture and science of whiskey

If you haven’t visited JH Bards in Blacksburg, check them out at 213 Draper Road SW, and be sure to take a look at the rest of their online menu of bourbons, whiskeys, and even vodka at JHBards.com.

About Tech Sideline

Tech Sideline is an independent publication, not affiliated with the university or its athletic programs, so we provide a unique perspective that appeals to the large and growing fan base of Virginia Tech Athletics.

Tech Sideline was launched on March 12, 1996 by 1987 Tech graduate (BSEE) Will Stewart as a small, personal web page. In 1997, the site evolved into HokieCentral.com, and in August of 1999, joined the SportsWar network of college sports web sites. In November of 2000, the site changed names to TechSideline.com, or TSL. Over the years, TSL has grown into what you see before you: a full-time Virginia Tech sports media company, complete with web site, podcast, YouTube channel, and large and active social media presences.
