Virginia Tech picked up a big commitment on Thursday when Green Run (Virginia Beach, Va.) offensive tackle Thomas Wilder announced his decision.

He is the third offensive lineman to verbal to the Hokies for the 2026 recruiting class, and new offensive line coach Matt Moore continues to have a big impact in the short time he’s been on campus.
A four-star talent, Wilder is ranked the No. 10 prospect in Virginia by 247Sports, and he’s the No. 318 recruit in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. That makes him Virginia Tech’s highest-ranked recruit of the 2026 class so far.
After taking official visits to Blacksburg, Penn State and Maryland, he eventually settled on the Hokies. Virginia Tech got the last official visit on June 20. Wilder represents a rare recruiting win over the Nittany Lions, and he joins Tyrell Simpson and Buddy Wegdam as the offensive linemen currently committed for the 2026 class. All three are projected offensive tackles.
Wilder’s commitment continues Virginia Tech’s impressive recruiting at Green Run, as he’ll join Keylen Adams (2024), Jayden Anderson (2025), Knahlij Harrell (2025), Zeke Chinwike (2025), Kamren Johnson (2026) and Zaevion Cleveland (2026) in Blacksburg.
Another major offensive line target is set to announce his decision on Sunday, with Maryland native Adrian Hamilton choosing between Virginia Tech, Michigan State and Virginia.
