Virginia Tech picked up its second commitment in as many days when Mooresville (Mooresville, N.C.) defensive lineman Kamdon Gillespie made his pledge on Saturday.
He is expected to play defensive end for the Hokies, who like his size and versatility as a defensive lineman. He is the fourth member of the 2026 recruiting class.
Gillespie is ranked as the No. 43 prospect in North Carolina, according to 247Sports. He took an official visit to Virginia Tech on June 6 after visiting Georgia Tech on May 30, and ultimately selected the Hokies over the Yellow Jackets. He is also listed with offers from Boston College, Kentucky, USF and West Virginia, as well as some smaller FBS programs.
Gillespie also pitches and plays outfield for his high school baseball team, showing his versatility as an athlete. He has the ability to line up with his hand in the ground, as well as play as a standup end, and his versatility seems ideal for the Sam Siefkes scheme.
With the commitment of Gillespie, the Hokies have two edge prospects as part of their 2026 recruiting class. He joins Kamren Johnson of Green Run (Virginia Beach), who committed on Friday, June 13.
