Kickoff times and television designations for three Virginia Tech football games in 2025 were announced on Thursday.
The Hokies' home opener in Lane Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 6, vs. Vanderbilt will be under the lights at 7:30 p.m. ET on the ACC Network. They faced the Commodores in Nashville last season and fell 34-27 in overtime.
Tech's second home game is also at night â Saturday, Sept. 13, vs. Old Dominion at 7 p.m. ET on the ACC Network. It'll mark the fourth time the Monarchs have come to Blacksburg. The Hokies won 37-17 in Norfolk last year.
Those two contests follow Tech's season opener on Sunday, Aug. 31, vs. South Carolina at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga., in the Aflac Kickoff Game. As previously announced, that's a 3 p.m. ET kickoff on ESPN. It's the first clash with the Gamecocks since 1991.
Details were also announced for the Hokies' lone weeknight contest on Friday, Oct. 24, vs. Cal. That'll be another primetime game in Lane Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. It'll be just the second meeting with the Golden Bears â the first since the 2003 Insight Bowl.
Tech played two weeknight games last season: at Miami (Friday) and vs. Boston College (Thursday). Not including the COVID season in 2020, the Cal contest will mark the 23rd consecutive year the Hokies have played on ESPN on either Thursday or Friday night, a streak that dates back to 2002.
