Virginia Tech men’s basketball picked up a commitment on Thursday night from DeMatha (Md.) center Solomon Davis.

A 6-foot-11 center who plays AAU ball for Virginia Elite, he is the third high school commit/signee of the 2025 class, joining fellow DMV product Christian Gurdak and Sin'Cere Jones.

Davis was injured for part of the spring and summer AAU circuit but has seen his stock rise quite a bit this spring with his performances for Virginia Elite.

Not much is known about Davis at this stage because he is such a late riser. The early feeling is that he is being brought in as a developmental prospect with a high ceiling who could potentially redshirt next season to add strength and work on his game.

His commitment gives Virginia Tech 11 scholarship players for the 2025-26 season. Per new NCAA rules, schools are allowed to carry up to 15 scholarship players. Here's a breakdown:
