The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Stewart caught 35 passes for 660 yards last year for the Tigers, averaging 18.9 yards per catch and scoring four touchdowns. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Spencer, who is from Madison, Mississippi, had drawn interest from West Virginia, Cal, Kentucky, Baylor and others.

Pro Football Focus gave the wideout a 74.9 grade last season.

He joins a rebuilt Virginia Tech wide receiver room that finished the spring with two transfers among its top three options, with Donavon Greene coming from Wake Forest and Cam Seldon from Tennessee. His addition gives the Hokies 13 scholarship wideouts.

Spencer is the seventh player to join the Hokies since the end of spring ball, joining defensive linemen Kody Huisman and Elhadj Fall, offensive lineman Gavin Crawford, cornerback Caleb Brown, linebacker Antwone Santiago and long snapper Drew Doyle.
