Virginia Tech added some cornerback help Saturday by getting a commitment from Hawaii's Caleb Brown. His agents informed On3 and 247Sports of his move before he officially announced his decision. He has one year of eligibility left.

The 6-foot-1, 160-pound Brown, who's originally from Anniston, Ala., played in 23 games the last two years with the Rainbow Warriors, finishing with 43 tackles and 13 pass breakups. He had a 77.1 overall defensive grade on Pro Football Focus in 2024.

Brown also spent two years at Kennesaw State and a season at Butler Community College before Hawaii. He has this year of eligibility because of the COVID waiver.

He's the third transfer pickup for the Hokies after spring ball, joining offensive lineman Gavin Crawford (West Virginia) and defensive tackle Kody Huisman (North Dakota State).  

Brown joins a cornerback group that's fairly young. East Carolina transfer Isaiah Brown-Murray has experience, though he was put in the slot as a nickelback this spring. On the outside, Dante Lovett and Thomas Williams, who have only a handful of starts between them, are the top projected cornerbacks. 

Brown's addition might also speak to the status of second-year cornerback Joshua Clarke, who suffered an undisclosed injury late in spring ball.
