Virginia Tech received a commitment from West Virginia offensive lineman Gavin Crawford on Thursday. He will be a true freshman in the fall with four years of eligibility.

The 6-foot-3, 330-pound lineman signed with the Mountaineers in the fall out of high school and enrolled early. However, he opted to transfer after spring practice and rejoin Matt Moore, the O-line coach who originally recruited him. He's the fourth WVU lineman to venture to Blacksburg with Moore, following Tomas Rimac, Kyle Altuner and Lucas Austin.
A Silver Spring, Md., native who played guard at Good Counsel — the same school Kendall Fuller attended — he was high school teammates with Altuner. He was a two-time All-WCAC first-team pick for the Falcons.
Crawford was a three-star recruit by all major recruiting services and the No. 740 overall prospect in the 2025 class, per the 247Sports composite rankings. Rivals had him as high as the No. 13 player in Maryland while he was No. 36 on On3's board.
He had a number of offers out of high school. Maryland and UCLA were his other two main schools — he took official visits to both — while he's listed with other Power 4 offers from Boston College, Duke, Florida, Georgia, Michigan State, Pitt, Syracuse and Tennessee.
Crawford's addition gives the Hokies 13 scholarship offensive linemen for the fall. He's the first addition of the spring portal window for that unit after Web Davidson and Bob Schick departed.
He's also the second pledge in two days for Tech after North Dakota State defensive tackle Kody Huisman committed on Wednesday.
