Virginia Tech and Megan Duffy picked up a commitment on Thursday from Texas Tech's Kilah Freelon (KY-Luh Free-LONN). She has one year of eligibility remaining.

At 6-foot-1, she's primarily a forward, especially with her rebounding prowess and career 1-of-15 clip from behind the arc. However, she has the speed and quickness of a guard, so she brings versatility to Blacksburg.
As a junior for the Red Raiders (19-18, 4-14 Big 12), Freelon appeared in 36 games with 17 starts — including the final 15 contests. She averaged 4.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per game this season while shooting 55.3 percent from the field (63-of-114).
In her time in Lubbock, she posted four double-doubles, had 14 double-figure scoring games and corralled double-digit rebounds six times. One of her best performances this year was a 15-point, nine-board outing vs. Colorado in the regular-season finale.
Freelon played a pivotal role in Texas Tech's second-round WBIT victory over the Hokies in Cassell Coliseum on March 23 with seven points (on 3-of-5 shooting), six rebounds, two steals, an assist and a block.
However, her numbers took a slight dip after a 2023-24 campaign that saw her average 7.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. While her shooting percentage increased — she only made a 49 percent of her shots as a sophomore — her minutes dropped from 23.5 per game to just below 20. She was a catalyst of sorts for the Red Raiders two years ago and had a stretch in December with six double-digit showings in seven contests.
The Denver, Colo., product starred at Mullen High School, where she was part of three state championships and earned all-league honors. She was also a dual-sport athlete in track & field in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles and the high jump. As a senior in 2022, her 300-meter hurdle time of 42.13 was the best in Colorado — and a top-15 mark in the country.
Freelon is Tech's second addition of the offseason, joining Purdue guard Sophie Swanson. With her in the fold, the Hokies have 11 scholarship players for the 2025-26 season. Here's a breakdown:
