Virginia Tech and Mike Young received a commitment from Delaware point guard Izaiah Pasha on Monday. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard was the CAA Rookie of the Year in 2024-25 after averaging 11.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game for the Blue Hens (16-20, 5-13 CAA). He visited Blacksburg this past weekend and committed soon after.
Pasha shot 51.7 percent (152-of-294) from the field, 33 percent (19-of-57) from behind the arc and 76.9 percent (80-of-104) from the foul line to go with his 1.5 assist-to-turnover ratio. He was the team's fourth-leading scorer — former Hokies wing John Camden, who has since transferred to Cal, led all scorers with 16.8 points per game — and fourth-leading rebounder while pacing the group with 132 assists.
He was named to the CAA All Tournament Team after propelling the Blue Hens, who entered the postseason as the league's No. 12 seed, to the championship game. Over that five-day span, he accounted for 67 points on 24-of-52 (46%) shooting to go with 32 rebounds, 29 assists, just eight turnovers, five blocks and five steals — averages of 13.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game. In the title game, he had 21 points, eight boards and seven dimes.
The Harrisburg, Pa., product got off to a slow start in his first four collegiate games in November but quickly picked things up with a 20-point outing vs. Vermont, the start of a nine-game stretch with eight double-figure contests. He was pretty consistent after that, highlighted by a 22-point, six-assist, five-board performance at North Carolina A&T. In all, he was a double-digit scorer in 23 of his 34 appearances. He also had four games with eight-plus rebounds and four with eight-plus assists.
The six-time CAA Rookie of the Week led the league's freshman in points and assists. He was the first Delaware freshman to start a season opener since 2017.
A graduate of Cardinal O'Hara High School, he averaged 17.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.4 blocks per game as a senior and was an all-league and all-state pick. He originally signed with Rick Pitino and Iona in 2022 before spending 2023-24 prepping at St. Thomas More School in Oakdale, Conn. He then landed at Delaware.
He's the second Hokies player to transfer from Delaware in the Mike Young era, following in the footsteps of Justyn Mutts, who had a terrific three years in Blacksburg. Other Tech players from Pennsylvania in the last decade include Camden and Devin Wilson (McKees Rocks).
Pasha is the second newcomer for Virginia Tech this offseason, joining West Virginia transfer Amani Hansberry. ESPN's Jeff Borzello lists those two players as the No. 88 and No. 92 overall transfer portal prospects, respectively.
