Virginia Tech football’s 2025 schedule features two trips to Atlanta by mid-October, a Thursday or Friday night home game against Cal and a Florida State-Miami back-to-back in November before the traditional end-of-season game against Virginia.

The ACC released the full slate late Monday night during a two-hour show on the ACC Network, putting dates with all 12 of Virginia Tech’s games for the fall.

Here’s a rundown of the schedule:

2023 Schedule and Results

The non-conference schedule — South Carolina in Atlanta (Aug. 31), vs. Vanderbilt (Sept. 6), vs. Old Dominion (Sept. 13) and vs. Wofford (Sept. 20) — was already set, with the league revealing last week a Sept. 27 ACC-opening date for the Hokies at NC State.

Tech follows that up with its home ACC opener against Wake Forest and new coach Jake Dickert on Oct. 4. The Hokies are 3-0 against the Demon Deacons at home since joining the conference.

The Hokies will head back to the Peach State on Oct. 11 to play Georgia Tech before the team’s first open weekend on Oct. 18. Virginia Tech is 5-1 against the Yellow Jackets in Atlanta since 2011.

That first open week precedes a home game against Cal that will be on either Thursday, Oct. 23, or Friday, Oct. 24. The Hokies haven’t played a Friday game in Lane Stadium since the season opener against North Carolina in 2021. They haven't played Cal since the 2003 Insight Bowl, when Aaron Rodgers led the Bears to a 52-49 win in Phoenix.

Tech hosts Louisville on Nov. 1. It’s the first time since joining the ACC in 2014 that the Cardinals will play in Lane Stadium.

After another open week on Nov. 8, Virginia Tech travels to Florida State on Nov. 15. It’ll be the Hokies’ third trip to Tallahassee since 2018. In a quirk with all the revamped schedules in recent years, Tech has not hosted FSU since 2012.

The Hokies close with two annual games, hosting Miami on Nov. 22 and traveling for a rivalry game at Virginia on Nov. 29. Tech is seeking to end a four-game losing streak against the Hurricanes but has won 19 of the last 20 meetings with the Cavaliers.
