Virginia Tech added another offensive weapon Saturday, getting a commitment from Coastal Carolina running back transfer Braydon Bennett. He has one year of eligibility left.

Though a back, the 6-foot-2, 215-pound Bennett should be able to help as both a runner and a pass-catcher. He accounted for 1,954 yards and 24 touchdowns on the ground in five years with the Chanticleers, with 781 yards and 11 scores coming last year. That included 100-yard efforts against Georgia Southern and Louisiana.
He's also effective as a receiver, with 76 catches for 769 yards and four more touchdowns in his career. He had a 79.1 overall offensive grade on Pro Football Focus in 2024 and earned All-Sun Belt honorable mention honors.
Bennett is the third addition to the Hokies' running back room in this cycle after the program lost Bhayshul Tuten to graduation and Malachi Thomas to the transfer portal. He joins Terion Stewart (Bowling Green) and Marcellous Hawkins (D-II Central Missouri State).
