Another West Virginia offensive lineman announced he's following Matt Moore to the Hokies on Monday in Kyle Altuner.

The Olney, Md., native redshirted in his lone season in Morgantown. He was expected to compete for snaps at center before a lower-body injury set him back. He'll venture to Virginia Tech as a redshirt freshman and have four years of eligibility remaining.

Altuner is the second offseason pickup on the offensive line for the Hokies, joining Tomas Rimac, who also came from West Virginia. He'll compete for playing time with Tech's lone returning center in Tommy Ricard. A true freshman in 2024, the Hudson, Ohio, native will start for the Hokies in the Duke's Mayo Bowl vs. Minnesota. Braelin Moore held down that spot for Tech this season before transferring to LSU. 

Altuner was a big-time prospect out of Our Lady of Good Counsel — a historic program that produced talents like former Hokies cornerback Kendall Fuller, now with the Miami Dolphins, and current Houston Texans wideout Stefon Diggs. He was a four-star prospect, according to 247Sports, and a top-10 in-state talent. It also listed him as the 14th-best interior offensive lineman in the country and the overall No. 238 recruit in the 2024 class.

At Good Counsel, he was a three-time MaxPreps All-American, an Under Armour All-American, a three-time All-WCAC First-Team performer and a two-time All-Metro First Team-player by the Washington Post. His Power Four offers included Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Penn State, Pitt, Tennessee and Virginia. Altuner's recruitment was very quiet this time around, though, as he followed Moore to Tech.

Overall, Altuner is Tech's 11th portal addition and fifth on offense, joining Rimac, running backs Terion Stewart (Bowling Green) and Marcellous Hawkins (D-II Central Missouri) and wide receiver Cameron Seldon (Tennessee).
