Virginia Tech has received its first offensive line commitment of the Matt Moore era, with West Virginia offensive guard Tomas Rimac choosing to follow his coach to Blacksburg. He is the first offensive line commitment of this transfer portal period for the Hokies.

Rimac (6-6, 318) has one year of eligibility remaining. He played over 2,000 career snaps for the Mountaineers, first breaking into the starting lineup in the second half of his redshirt freshman season in 2022. He was an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention player in each of the last two seasons.

Rimac had a great junior season for West Virginia. Here’s where he ranked in blocking among all Big 12 guards with 300-plus snaps, per PFF:

Overall: 77.1 (No. 1)
Pass blocking: 86.3 (No. 4)
Run blocking: 75.0 (T-No. 1)

According to PFF, he did not allow a sack in 2024 (after not yielding one in 2023). Moreover, he allowed just nine overall pressures. His grades are higher than any Virginia Tech lineman from the 2024 season, and he has nearly twice as many snaps as Tech's most experienced linemen (Montavious Cunningham with 1,136 and Bob Schick with 1,125).

The Brunswick, Ohio, native has been a left guard for his entire career with the Mountaineers, and with his experience and his impressive performances in past seasons, he is projected to start at that position for Virginia Tech in 2025.

At Brunswick High School, Rimac was a two-way player who featured mostly at tackle. According to 247Sports, he was a three-star prospect, a top-50 offensive tackle in the country and a top-20 player in Ohio.
