A 2023 signee from Appomattox, Pennix redshirted his first year and got a handful of snaps at cornerback, plying primarily on special teams this fall. He made two tackles.
Tech has six cornerbacks who could come back, though Dorian Strong has already said 2024 was his last year and Mansoor Delane has strong NFL Draft projections.
Dante Lovett and Thomas Williams, who were in Pennix's class, served as the top backups this fall. Krystian Williams is another player from that class, with Joshua Clarke a promising freshman a year behind.
Pennix is the 13th player scholarship player to enter the portal this cycle for the Hokies.
