Redshirt freshman offensive lineman Lance Williams intends to go into the transfer portal when it opens Monday, the fourth Hokies scholarship player to announce his intentions.
Williams played in one game over two years with Virginia Tech, getting in for three snaps late against Boston College this fall. He has three years of eligibility remaining.

Williams was a three-star signee in the 2023 class out of Alcoa, Tennessee.
He played on the interior with the Hokies, getting his game action at left guard. Tech loses Kaden Moore at guard but as of now returns Bob Schick, who plans to return for another year, Brody Meadows, Layth Ghannam, Montavious Cunningham, Gunner Givens and others on the interior, along with center Braelin Moore.
Williams joins defensive tackles Malachi Madison, Ishmael Findlayter and Khurtiss Perry in announcing his plans to enter the portal. Two walk-ons, receiver Jordan Tapscott and quarterback Jackson Sigler, are also transferring.
