Virginia Tech and Megan Duffy picked up a commitment from Aniya Trent on Monday.

A 6-foot-2 forward from Springboro, Ohio, in the class of 2025, ESPN lists her as a four-star prospect. She's the Hokies' third 2025 pledge, joining top-100 recruits Amani Jenkins (6-2, F, No. 81) and Kate Sears (5-9, G, No. 87).
Duffy & Co. offered Trent a scholarship on July 25 and had her on campus soon after, and she committed in early October. Assistant coach Jen Hoover recruited Trent heavily when she was at Kentucky, and that relationship carried over after Hoover joined the Tech staff in the spring.
Trent's other offers and interests included Arizona State, BYU, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Louisville, North Carolina, Penn State, Rutgers, Washington, West Virginia, Xavier and Virginia.
She's shined on the AAU trail with WV Thunder, where she's teammates with Bryn Martin, a top-100 talent (ESPN's No. 66) that is committed to Washington. They also play together at Springboro High School and helped the Panthers make the state championship in 2023-24.
A Second Team All-District pick last year after averaging 8.4 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game, Trent excels on the defensive end of the floor. She had three blocks in the first eight minutes of the state title game in March and swatted seven shots in a January contest.
