Virginia Tech picked up its second commitment in three days on Sunday in Luke Stuewe.

A 6-foot-2, 195-pound wide receiver from Avon Lake, Ohio, he's the 17th pledge in the Hokies' class of 2025. He's the fifth wide receiver in the group, joining four-star prospects Micah Matthews (Harrisonburg, Va.), Matthew Outten (Portsmouth, Va.) and Shamarius Peterkin (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and three-star talent Jayden Anderson (Virginia Beach, Va.). 

A three-star talent, Stuewe is Tech's sixth out-of-state commitment in the class. The 247Sports composite ranks him as the No. 1,671 overall player nationally. It also lists him as the 84th-best prospect in Ohio, similar to On3's ranking of 86th.

The son of two Virginia Tech alums, his father is former Hokies and Detroit Lions wide receiver Michael Stuewe, who caught 53 passes for 689 yards and five touchdowns in Blacksburg from 1993-97.

Virginia Tech was Luke's lone Power Four offer. Much of his interest came from Group of Five schools, including Miami (OH), Army, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Kent State, Marshall, Navy and Toledo. His lone official visit was to the RedHawks in June.

Two of the main recruiting outlets — 247Sports and Rivals — classify Stuewe as an athlete. He was a two-way player at wide receiver and free safety at Avon Lake High School. It's possible that he could also get a look at safety in Blacksburg.

Of Tech's 17 commitments, he's the 10th on the offensive side of the ball. It's the second straight year the Hokies added talent from the state of Ohio. In the 2024 class, it was defensive lineman Andrew Hanchuk (Cleveland) and offensive lineman Tommy Ricard (Hudson).
