The 6-foot-1, 204-pound prospect from Columbia, S.C., is the eighth commitment in the Hokies’ class of 2025 and the second quarterback, joining Fort Worth’s Kelden Ryan. They are the lone out-of-state pledges of the group.

Brand is a three-star prospect who is the 18th-best player in South Carolina, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Rivals lists him as high as 15th in the state while 247Sports has him 21st. He’s the No. 804 overall player nationally.

He had three Power 5 offers: Oregon State, South Carolina and Virginia Tech. His two official visits were to the Gamecocks (May 31) and the Hokies (June 7), and his commitment comes just over two weeks after his trip to Blacksburg. South Carolina’s lead recruiter was former Tech star Torrian Gray, an All-Big East defensive back from 1992-96 who now coaches that position on Shane Beamer’s staff.

Brand has put up video game-like numbers at the high school level. In 2023, he completed 183-of-253 passes (72.3%) for 2,932 yards, 45 touchdowns and two interceptions. He also carried the ball 84 times for 1,113 yards (13.3 average) and 17 scores.

It’s the second time in the three years the Hokies have a two-quarterback recruiting class. In 2023, it was Pop Watson and Dylan Wittke, the latter of which transferred to Minnesota this spring.
