Tony Robie and Virginia Tech wrestling earned their second commitment of the offseason on Monday in Lehigh’s Connor McGonagle.

He joins Columbia’s Lennox Wolak as the second transfer portal addition in Blacksburg. Lennox replaces Hokies national champion Mekhi Lewis at 174 pounds.
McGonagle, a Danville, N.H., native, adds another talented lightweight to Tech’s wrestling room and is expected to start at 133 next season.
A three-time NCAA qualifier, McGonagle began his career at 141 before dropping down to 133 over the last two seasons. He was ranked in the top five at 133 in 2023 for the majority of the second semester, but was unable to compete in the NCAA Tournament due to injury despite qualifying.
Last season, he was beaten out by Ryan Crookham for the starting spot at 133 and moved up to 141 for five matches. He finished the season with a 3-3 record and did not appear in any dual matches.
McGonagle’s arrival means Sam Latona, Tech’s former starter at 133, will bump up to 141. He took down Latona last season at the All-Star Classic in tiebreakers, 7-5.
