Backup center Jack Hollifield has entered the transfer portal, according to VTScoop, the eighth Hokies scholarship player to do so since the end of the regular season.
The younger brother of former beloved Tech linebacker Dax, Jack spent three years with Virginia Tech, though he appeared almost exclusively on special teams in 2022 and played just 29 offensive snaps this fall.
Hollifield was a three-star recruit in the 2021 class out of Shelby, North Carolina, originally signing as a tight end but moving fairly quickly to the offensive line, where he settled in at center. He'll have two years of eligibility left.
Hollifield is the third Tech offensive lineman to enter the portal this offseason, joining Hunter Mclain and Johnny Dickson.
Other portal entries include running backs Chance Black and Bryce Duke, tight end Dae'Quan Wright, receiver Da'Wain Lofton and cornerback Derrick Canteen. Click here for Tech Sideline's roster management page that tracks the comings and goings of the offseason.
