The Hokies got the final answer to their 2024 retention riddle Saturday when running back Bhayshul Tuten announced he will return to Blacksburg in 2024.
Tuten made his announcement on his Instagram account.
The North Carolina A&T transfer was a second-team All-ACC pick as an all-purpose player in 2023 after running for 727 yards and eight touchdowns as the Hokies' feature back. He added 25 catches for 220 yards and two touchdowns as a receiver.
Tuten's presence was felt on kick returns as well. He averaged an ACC-best 30.6 yards per return this fall, taking two back for touchdowns against Florida State and Virginia. The Sporting News and College Football Network named him a second-team All-American as a kick returner.
Tuten's return means almost all of the Hokies' top skill players are returning in 2024, with quarterback Kyron Drones and receivers Ali Jennings, Da'Quan Felton, Jaylin Lane and Stephen Gosnell previously announcing that they're coming back.
"I think it speaks for the culture," Tech head coach Brent Pry said Saturday. "And these guys believe they can be developed here and continue to get better and improve and strengthen their stock and get a great experience."
