The Hokies return Sean Pedulla and Hunter Cattoor from last year's NIT squad and added Robbie Beran from Northwestern, who should provide a boost in the frontcourt. Mekhi Long (Old Dominion) and Tyler Nickel (North Carolina) will also play key roles. Lynn Kidd is also back and expected to play alongside Beran while MJ Collins will step in on the wing next to Pedulla and Cattoor.

Tech finished 11th last season after being picked seventh after dealing with injuries and other absences for much of the year.
