On Wednesday, Virginia Tech women’s basketball released its 2023-24 non-conference schedule.
The Hokies open their campaign on Monday, Nov. 6 vs. High Point. Out of the 11 games on the slate, six are at home. Three are at neutral sites — one in Charlotte, two in the Cayman Islands — while the two road contests are at LSU in the ACC/SEC Challenge on Nov. 30, a rematch of last year’s Final Four, and at Rutgers on Dec. 17.
Many of the games were reported previously, including the Ally Tipoff in Charlotte’s Spectrum Center vs. Iowa and the Cayman Islands Invitational. Mark Berman of the Roanoke Times also broke the news of several contests.

Quick Hitters
The Hokies will face High Point for the second straight season. The two sides squared off in North Carolina last December, a game Virginia Tech took 86-66. It'll be the fifth all-time meeting, a series Tech owns 4-0.
The second game of the season is a big one: vs. Iowa. A Final Four team last year headlined by Caitlin Clark, the Hawkeyes lost by 17 in the national championship game to LSU. Clark is back, however, and will go head-to-head with Georgia Amoore on Nov. 9 in a one-off game in Charlotte's Spectrum Center. Expect a large crowd for two of women's basketball's best. Kansas is the first of two games for Tech in the Cayman Islands. The Jayhawks are the reigning WNIT Champions and return a large core of last year's side. It's the first-ever matchup between the two programs.
Tulane is a familiar face for the Hokies. Once Metro conference foes, they haven't met since Feb. 1995. Lisa Stockton was in her first year at the helm of the Green Wave then; when she coaches against Tech in November in the Caribbean, she'll be in her 30th season. Tulane hasn't appeared in the NCAA tournament since 2015 but has made three consecutive WNITs.
After playing Tulane on Saturday, Virginia Tech has until Thursday to rest before playing at national champion LSU in Baton Rouge. It's another heavyweight battle for the Hokies, who have a chance at revenge after the Final Four in Dallas. The Tigers, who return Angel Reese and Flau’jae Johnson and added Hailey Van Lith (Louisville) and Aneesah Morrow (DePaul), could very well be the nation's No. 1 team.
Tech and New River Valley foe Radford will meet for the 39th time on Dec. 10. The Hokies have won the last 10 games against the Highlanders dating back to Nov. 2008. The three younger sisters of former Tech guard Kayana Traylor all play for Radford now: Ashlyn Traylor and Pa'Shence and Adelyn Walker.
Once Big East members together, Virginia Tech and Rutgers will reunite for the first time since Nov. 2018. It'll be the first trip the Hokies have made to Piscataway since Jan. 2004, which was a conference game. Rutgers is in the second season under Coquese Washington, who replaced the legendary head coach C. Vivian Stringer, the fifth-winningest head coach in women’s college basketball history, in 2022.
Virginia Tech hasn't played William & Mary since a 78-59 loss in Blacksburg in Nov. 2011. The Tribe enters its second season under Erin Dickerson Davis after an 18-13 record in 2022-23. She on staff at Wake Forest for the two previous seasons and coached now-Tech forward Olivia Summiel.
